Celebrity gossip sites have a wave of enthusiastic readers all over the world. They have dedicated readers who check up on updates, no matter what the constraints are. They can’t hang around with their friends or head for the video-game parlor. They miss out on a normal childhood because they happen to be celeb kids. They have celebrity gossip reporters hounding them for a snap as they go about their lives like any other kid would like to. They are denied the full freedom that childhood brings with it. They may be growing up in the lap of luxury but they are missing out on a lot, things which money can’t buy.

A recent example would be the presence of the paparazzi in front of the school where Tiger Woods’ daughter studies. The posse of reporters positioned at the gate of the school was waiting for Tiger or his wife Elin to show up. It was a crisis situation for the entertainment news sections because both of them were not making a public appearance. A snap of either would cost millions. In the rush of economics and profit, they laid siege to a school, making things inconvenient for the kids as well as for guardians.

This is one aspect that we must all look at with some consideration. It is okay to look for updates and you can’t really expect people to forego their habit of reading entertainment news columns. But maybe we need to be responsible when it comes to talking about celebrities who have kids. After all, they are not part of this celebrity circus!

What I have learned from this reality show is, Kim Kardashian has got four sisters – Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie. Also Kim’s mother, Kris Kardashian doesn’t seem to be very actively involved in shaping the direction of Kim’s career. From the series, it is easy to see that Kris is more interested about photo shoots involving her daughters than any artistic work which they are involved with. Kris is monitoring minor details while Kim appears to be looking at the larger picture. At times, Kim’s stepfather Bruce seemed quite concerned about the activities of the daughters around the house but mostly doesn’t say much about it. So we can rule out the influence of her family in shaping Kim to be a celebrity super star, if anything Kim has taken them with her on the ride to fame.

Kim Kardashian’s popularity and public profile greatly increased after her sex video with the rapper Ray J was released. After it’s release the video spread all over the internet very quickly. Kardashian’s first reaction was to deny she was involved in the sex tape in any way. Later, after the video was rapidly moving around the Internet Kardashian had to confess her involvement. Vivid Entertainment, the company who released the tape made Kim Kardashian to file suit against the them claiming the proprietor of the sex video. Ultimately Kim made a deal of five million dollars with them for the sex video. I’ll say it was a good business for a celebrity like Kim Kardashian, getting paid for a self-promotional video, which raised her media profile greatly.

I just got my fill of all the latest goings-on with the celebrity world. I went at it for almost 7 straight minutes, indulging my seedy side with all the news about anybody who is anyone famous. Why do I even care? I think I don’t.

Maybe I’m just bored. No, maybe I’m a sick voyeur. In either case, whenever I see all that tabloid stuff (which now appears in all the non-tabloids as well), it kinda’ makes me feel dirty. It’s pretty trashy fare. I’m just glad you and I aren’t the ones making that sort of news. Or…do we wish we were? Let’s not go there.

I’m not going to name names, but you know who all the hunks and starlets are I’m talking about. So many scandals and relationship faux pas that it makes your head spin. Then harsh reality sets in: what the heck am I doing?!

I want to not care one iota. But, there I am back again reading all this garbage about some person I have no personal investment in, and who has none in me. Couldn’t my time be better served in much more productive ways? Why yes, YES it could.

I love the Internet, even when it sucks me down paths I’d prefer not to go. I’ve got so many hopes and dreams tied up in the Web. I want to be a blazing entrepreneur, a comedy writer, and a disrespected video nut (well, I already am, and I can’t seem to stop making some of the dumbest vid’s out there. But, it is too much fun). Oh, and by the way, do not ever give a man a video camera for a gift. You’ll very rarely see him again.

I think the truth is that I am a shameless self-promoting maniac. However, I believe that is what you must risk becoming if you’re ever to make a name for yourself. And maybe I’m just deluding myself. You can still become a raving success without anyone really knowing who you are. I guess my shameless style is just who I am. So, I have to accept that and move forward.

I’m constantly working toward achieving my every goal. And, I don’t appear to have it in me to ever quit. And as we all know, the journey always seems to trump the destination. And, it’s a fine fun journey I’m on, if I do say so myself.

Enough about me. Way more than enough. Except that if I can take this journey, so can you, my friend. The hills are alive with the sound of…endless opportunity. So, get out there and make it happen. All you have to do is determine what “it” is. And that you can do today.

You may remember Gabe Kaplan from his famous 1970’s TV show, “Welcome Back, Kotter.” However, what you may not know about Gabe is that he’s a world-class poker player. Yep! From kotter to poker!

What people may not know is how varied a life Gabe Kaplan has had. Gabe Kaplan is the Jack London Of The Poker World; his career has spanned numerous fields of shot.

Don’t underestimate Gabe Kaplan’s poker skills, he hasn’t been as active in the profession in recent years, . At one time in the 80’s, Kaplan heaped up an awesome list of poker accomplishments. And he seems to be making a comeback.

Gabe Kaplan is such an accomplished poker player that most no longer regard him as a “celebrity” poker player. Kaplan’s first World Series of Poker appearance came in 1978.

In 2004, he finished third at the World Poker Tour’s No Limit Hold’em event, winning more than $250,000 in the process. He has also taken second place in the World Series of Poker Limit Hold’em event. His career tournament poker earnings exceed $680,000. He also serves as an expert poker commentator, having appeared on such shows as the National Heads-Up Poker Championship, Intercontinental Poker Championship, and High Stakes Poker.

Between 1975-1979, while Gabe Kaplan was working on his hit TV series, he was also working in another venue – the poker room. Gabe first played in the World Series of Poker way back in 1978, long before it became nationally popular. In the years since, Kaplan has been an integral part of the poker world, commentating for the National Heads-Up Poker Championship, High Stakes Poker, and the Intercontinental Poker Championship.

While he was actively involved in his acting career, Kaplan also became involved in financial markets and poker. He made his first appearance at the World Series of Poker in 1978. Soon, he got addicted to poker tournaments and started appearing in them regularly and became known for his poker skills in the professional circles in the country.

His biggest win came in July 2004, when he finished 3rd place in a World Poker Tour no limit Texas hold ‘em event, earning more than $250,000. Kaplan also finished 2nd place in the $5000 2005 World Series of Poker Limit Hold ‘em event, winning $222,515.

In 2007, Kaplan won on NBC’s Poker After Dark in the episode “Queens and Kings” after defeating Kristy Gazes heads-up and outlasting fellow professional poker players Howard Lederer, Vanessa Rousso and Annie Duke.

In the 2007 World Series of Poker Kaplan finished in 9th place in the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E event winning $131,424, the event was eventually won by Freddy Deeb after defeating Bruno Fitoussi in heads-up play.

Nowadays Gabe can be seen, and heard, commentating on poker for ESPN, the Game Show Network and NBC. He still does stand-up as well as public speaking engagements in the financial sector.

As of 2007, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,100,000 and one thing is for sure, though; we’ll see Gabe Kaplan at many more major poker tournaments in the years to come.

Poker has taken off and the number of celebrities who have taken up the game has mirrored that rise in interest. And television can’t get enough! With shows like Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown, Celebrity Poker Club, Ultimate Poker Showdown, and World Poker Tour and etc.

Few women have made as large a mark on the world of female poker players and one them is this actress and celebrity poker player most famous for her role as Cheryl David on the HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, Cheryl Hines. Hines also became well-known in card-playing circles for her role as the trash-talking poker pro in The Grand.

She went to 3 different colleges before graduating with a degree in film and TV production. As it turned out she didn’t need to spend all that tuition, because her real education started when she moved to Los Angeles and joined the renowned improv comedy group, The Groundlings. Some of her fellow alumni include Will Ferrell, Phil Hartman, as well as Lisa Kudrow, who was one of Cheryl’s instructors.

Besides her TV work, Cheryl has appeared in the movies Along Came Polly, Keeping Up with the Steins, and RV. In 2007, she appeared in The Grand, an improvised comedy about a poker tournament at the Golden Nugget. Her co-stars include Ray Romano, Jason Alexander and Woody Harrelson and poker greats such as Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Laak.

While Cheryl Hines has played poker for years, she wouldn’t get to put her talents on display until the last few years. And when she appeared on Celebrity Poker Showdown, Cheryl won her tournament, beating know-it-all Alex Trebek during heads-up play. Ask her about the victory, and she’ll tell you the tournament played out as though it was scripted that way.

You’re a certified celebrity-poker champ. You once kicked Alex Trebek’s butt.
Yeah. At my first tournament, about four years ago, I got four twos. Now I have a poker problem. I do win every so often, so that’s what keeps me going.

You love to trash-talk. How calculated is it?
I do have a tendency to talk a lot at the poker table, which throws people off because they spend a lot of time trying to read me. But I talk a lot when I have a good hand and when I have a bad hand, too. Sometimes it annoys people so much they can’t wait to get out of the tournament. And that can only be good for me.

Was Jose Canseco upset when you beat him?
Jose Canseco may have been one that was really not pleased … But the poker pros are the ones that really may not enjoy me as much, the ones who’d rather sit in silence calculating odds.

Off set, who was the most hopeless player?
He won’t mind me saying, but Chris Parnell had not really played poker before this movie.

But his character is an expert.
Yes, so he was very stressed during the whole movie.

And who was the best player?
Well, it’s hard to say. I may have won a tournament … I’m not going to lie.

How much did you walk away with on side bets?

That’s not bad for an indie film. What was the hardest scene to keep a straight face in?
When Werner Herzog goes crazy and starts to attack Chris Parnell, and Chris jumps up on the chair and starts squawking like a bird. Is that still in there?

What’s a line that will help an amateur poker player win?
Whenever somebody folds, say, “Good laydown.” It encourages them to fold on a later hand because it makes them feel like you had the best hand even if you were bluffing. It’s an odd form of flattery that seems to work at the poker table.

Manipulating people is what’s so fun about poker. I love that you can just look into someone’s eyes and lie—and it’s perfectly acceptable.

I guess acting and poker are two of the only times it is.
Yes, but when you’re playing poker, you can drink beer while you do it.

The arrest report that TMZ obtained stated that Rhymes failed the sobriety test, but only blew a 0.067 later at the police station, which is below the legal limit of 0.08. He was reportedly charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

Even though Paris Hilton really isn’t much of a music celebrity, she made the celebrity gossip hit list by getting sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving with a suspended license. She had the nerve to show up to court 20 minutes late powdering her nose. The judge put the clueless blonde in her place by sending her to the clinker.

The suit is for an “undisclosed amount,” but the woman’s parents are suing Brandy for $50 million. If this is any indication of what the husband is seeking, that girl needs to hire a chauffeur or stay off of the road.

Last night London certainly had its fair share of celebrities out on the town.

First we caught up with X Factor judge Louis Walsh who was all smiles when we spotted him doing some Christmas shopping with a mystery male companion on Kensington High Street.

After that we headed over to the Mayfair Hotel where we bumped into Kelly Brook, Freddie Ljungberg, James Nesbitt, Ronan Keating, Elton John and last but not least David Furnish. Oh and Louis was there as well, he certainly gets around doesn’t he?!

Amy Winehouse has been helping to look after patients at the private clinic she’s staying at in London.

The Back To Black singer has been staying at the rehabilitation centre for almost three weeks, but she nearly got chucked out recently after a visit from Blake sent her back to her old binging ways. So in a desperate bid to stay in their good books, Amy has been helping the nurses to look after patients by serving them meals. A hospital insider revealed:

“She has been charming the nurses by helping them with their tasks. She’s been mucking in.”

As she wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing the Mean Girls actress accidentally got into the back seat of a photographer’s car, instead of her own chauffeur driven ride. Russell Brand Goes Home With Three Women

Russell Brand is back in London, and he’s up to his old tricks. After going to the Bedtime Stories premiere in Kensington last night, where he snubbed journalists on the red carpet, the comedian headed to Vendome in Mayfair.

Sitting in the VIP area of the club, Russell selected a bevy of beauties to come and sit with him. An onlooker revealed:

“His booth was crowded with attractive girls, but Russell spent most of his time chatting to a striking brunette. They were huddled up close and he was whispering in her ear.”

Though Russell made a big show of walking past photographers by himself at 2am, the cheeky star managed to smuggle a whole group of girls home with him. A source revealed:

“Russell called it a night just before 2am. He made of point of appearing to leave alone, but his security team had already bundled three girls, including the brunette, into his car.”
